Fort Hood Shootings. What's your take?

There has been a lot of discussion surrounding the incident at Fort Hood, and I was curious what people's thoughts are. There are a lot of factors at play including his ethnic background, military rank, position as base psychiatrist, and his impending deployment overseas. Also, the mass media frenzy complicates the issue further by diminishing the possibility of a fair trial. Additionally, since this incident took place on a military base, should this case not be a matter of military justice? What punishment would be fitting of this crime?

Obviously this is a complicated issue

The Fort Hood shooting is a very complicated issue and the media doesn't really do well to help sort out the viable and valuable facts. Setting that aside my first thoughts are for the soldiers, it pains me that they had to go through this before they have to go overseas. I am proud of the men and women in the armed forces and I am grateful that are willing to do what they do.

As for the punishment for Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan, if he is guilty (which he appears to be), then I see no reason why he should not be put to death. Regardless of motive, regardless of religion, regardless of whether he is a terrorist, if you kill 13 people you have lost your right to life.

Terrible Situation, but justice will be served

The Fort Hood Massacre puts shivers down my spine. It really makes me question who was looking over this man who by all accounts seemed ready to snap.
